About Seng Hong Oriental Market
Located at 4901 Old York Rd #5, Philadelphia, PA 19141, Seng Hong Oriental Market operates as an asian grocery store serving Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in Philadelphia with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in Pennsylvania may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. Typical hours are 9 amβ7 pm. Note that it does not open on Tuesday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Seng Hong Oriental Market at (215) 324-4727; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 100 reviews, which is a strong result for an asian grocery store in Philadelphia and suggests consistent service.
Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Philadelphia follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Very friendly staff and great selection! I came in looking for sticky rice for making thai sticky rice with mango, and the woman working at the counter suggested stuffing it into jack fruit as well! She joked to send her a video, and it turned out delicious so here is the video ππ

Using our experiences in Thailand for context: If H-Mart was the towering Big C Supercenter in town, then Sen Hong Oriental Market is the local market tucked into the nooks of every neighborhood β always familiar, always stocked with what you need. The owners? Think of them as your personal culinary guides, armed with warm smiles, and ready to guide you through the task of transforming that mysterious herb into a symphony of flavors in your stir-fry. Sen Hong is a rare gem in the neighborhood and having it within a short walking distance is like finding a four-leaf clover on a Tuesday β absolutely lucky! Alright, let's talk dollars and cents. The prices might seem a little high at first glance. But when you consider the sheer convenience of finding hard to find sauces, pastes, and herbs that you can't find elsewhere, well it's practically a bargain. Walking into Sen Hong is like stepping onto the set of a culinary 'Indiana Jones' adventure β you don't know what treasures you'll unearth, but you're certain to discover delicacies you didn't even know your palate was craving. It's a little like pulling a five-course meal from a magician's hat. So, if you find yourself in the Logan

Rare food items for Southeast Asian cooking! This market is one of my favorites in Philadelphia. It's not as large as the Sino-Vietnamese markets on Washington Ave, but it has some very specialized inventory for mainland Southeast Asia cooking (Thai/Lao/Cambodian/Vietnamese). I've been going there for about 5 years, and it's a regular stop on grocery shopping trips. If you've ever traveled to mainland Southeast Asia, you'll know that fresh herbs are very important in making or breaking a dish. Seng Hong's well-stocked herb selection in the refrigerator is a particular strength. At any given time they have around 10 different herbs available. The freezer section is exotic. Lots of interesting new imports from Thailand there, including "sour fish" ΰΈΰΈ₯ΰΈ²ΰΈͺΰΉΰΈ‘ and lightly fermented gouramy ΰΈΰΈ₯ΰΈ²ΰΈͺΰΈ₯ΰΈ΄ΰΈ. There are frozen yanang leaves ΰΉΰΈΰΈ’ΰΉΰΈ²ΰΈΰΈ²ΰΈ and frozen sour flesh of the krasang fruit for making funky Cambodian dips. They now sell Isaan sausages (Northeastern Thai sour pork sausages), alongside Chinese and Cambodian sausages. This is where we usually get our green papayas and ingredients for papaya salads, and there are new product lines of jarred dips and sauces in a pretty steady stream f
